This is the start of a new series for a new year! #MotivationMonday will be posts to motivate and inspire you to get rid of those Monday Blues.

Our first story is one that hits close to home because I went to elementary school with her. I remember being in awe of her when I first met her in 2nd grade. She was a couple of years older than me, but she was kind to everyone. Now, she had used her love of fashion to speak out and connect with her  21.4K followers on Instagram. Her name is… Heather!

I reached out to Heather and she gave me a small interview.

How did you first start getting into fashion?

“I have loved fashion since I was little. I grew up watching The Nanny, Clueless, Romy and Michele and I just told my mom as a little girl that when I was the same age as Romy and Michele I was going to dress just like them. It just stayed with me over the years.”

Did you ever want to go to school for it?

“Yes, I had a tough time deciding between Psychology and Fashion but I wasn’t sure how good the job market would be so I decided on psychology.”

What is you favorite thing about fashion?

“My favorite thing about fashion is that you can you can express yourself through it, I’m kind of shy but I let my style speak for me.”

Have you thought about taking your blog to the next level?

“Yes I have, I’ve been thinking of creating a YouTube channel as well. I guess we will see what happens in 2017.”

Do you have any advice for our readers?

“If you want to build a following, make sure to post everyday. Or at least as much as possible. Try to pay attention to what your followers like. Of course you still want to be you and post what you like, but if you’re really wanting to build a following avoiding posts that make you lose likes and followers is definitely a good idea. For instance if you’re followers love your outfit posts, posting your food daily may make you lose some followers, so maybe cut down on those posts.”

Thanks for sharing with us Heather! Your story and pictures are inspiring.
